Audience are not expecting much from movies today. Just two and half hours entertainment, which will make them forget all their tensions, is what they want. Taking this good heartedness of audience for ride, some film makers are dishing out movies, which will create new tensions for audience. Why this kind of introduction for ‘Operation Duryodhana 2′ movie review, you might think. Just read on to know better.
As CM dies in a helicopter crash, senior minister in the cabinet Prathap Reddy (Erasu Pratap Reddy) is appointed CM by High Command. Home Minister Venkatadri (Kota) eyes CM post and starts making efforts to dethrone Prathap Reddy. Krishna (Posani) is a fraud and Hawala scamster. He gets caught with 500 crore back money. He says that, the black money belongs to CM. With this, political situation in the state gets into a turmoil and CM falls in troubles. To solve this case CBI officer Ashok (Jagapathi Babu) comes into the picture. Whether Ashok solves this case, did he catch the culprits and how he teaches a lesson to corrupt politicians, forms the crux of the story.
Generally Telugu audience are not very much interested in political satire movies. But Operation Duryodhana movie proved this observation wrong by becoming hit and turned industry and audience’s attention towards the genre. To cash in on that craze Operation Duryodhana 2 came as a sequel to it. But this movie is no way related to the first one. Just makers have used the title. Being a political drama it shows scenes like politicians plotting against each other, shouting in the Assembly, etc. The whole movie runs on like this. This movie shows CM Kiran Kumar Reddy as a hero. It praises Kiran Kumar Reddy’s schemes and programmes. At times we will even get the feeling, whether this is an election campaign film or a promotional film on CM Kiran.
Almost all the scenes sport lengthy speeches. The movie does not gather pace until Jagapathi Babu appears. Do you think it gathers pace after his arrival? No. It will get confirmed for us that it will never gather pace. Posani appears in his usual self by keeping shouting all through the movie. Rao Ramesh has not been used properly. As Kota is experienced, did well within his limits. Seems Minister Erasu has acted by struggling very hard. Even audience will find it very hard to watch him. Coming to Jagapthi Babu there is not much scope for him.
To make a political satire movie, director should have a thorough understanding on the present political scenario. The movie should be authentic and thought provoking. But no such efforts have been made in this movie. The taking of the movie reminds us of 20 years back movies. Even a TV serial will have better production values.
How bad a movie may be. There will be at least one impressive scene or dialogue or character, which can be remembered and enjoyed by the audience. But Operation Duryodhana 2 makes sure that audience shall not have, even such a small hope
